My last debridement appointment was for February 8, 2017 at 11:00 am. Thus upon arrival, Sasheen greeted me with a smile. Since it was early, I sat in the lobby and once again began to watch their educative TV. As always, I enjoyed seeing their diverse treatments that the business offered customers. Marie motioned to me to follow her. Once again, she was cheerful and asked if I had any concerns. Upon sitting on the special chair, she began with a swab in my mouth. I looked forward to part of my mouth being numbed and afterwards came the shots plus I put on the dark glasses for protection. Marie kindly mentioned to me that Dr. Standage would visit me to discuss any future treatments. I mentioned to her that I had requested the idea to Donna before and I was thankful. After the cleaning was completed, Marie kindly gave me helpful dental care instructions. She said that I needed a follow up appointment but I don’t recall the date. At the front desk I was not given a card stating the future date. Thankfully, Dr. Standage along with Donna entered the room. As always, he shook my hand and verbally showed his compassion and understanding towards me. I was thankful because in order for me to understand future options, he used a plastic clear tooth example so I could understand what work needs to be done. Thus, I asked if I had any cavities. Good news! I didn’t but it was recommended that I receive other treatments. Having a possible future eye operation plus being concerned of having enough funds to pay (I thought to myself), I mentioned to Dr. Standage that needed around a year to make up my mind. Then, he said something that put me on a defense mode. He informed me that I could go and check other dentist for possible treatment plus compare prices. This was not in my mind but I understood that in his own way, he was mentioning to me that he respected my rights of choice. I asked if I could have a copy of future treatment costs and said that I would not sign any paperwork for I had not made another commitment yet. Upon my request Marie brought me ‘50% discount card so I can share with future customers and explained my benefits. Marie and I walked to the office counter and I had mentioned that I wanted to write a review of the services they offered me so the public could read it. Donna very kindly handed me all the future costs in case I requested more treatment plus the names of all the staff that was involved with me. Upon me receiving the copies of cost and staff names, in front of Marie and Donna regarding staff names, I said ‘can I just call the staff broa..? Jokingly of course! Marie then mentioned that Donna protects her workers. I mentioned to them that my foster mom corrects me about some of my verbal’s. What impressed me was that Donna and Marie conducted themselves as professionals. I’m sure that both of them could have found creative ways to retaliate. In my heart, I believed that they knew that I meant them no lack of respect. I shook hands with Marie and Donna, excused myself; thanked them and left the office. Overall, I would definitively recommend others to receive treatment from Canyon Vista Dental Care! In fact, I already have discussed the wonderful treatment that I received to others. Also, I placed on a particular bulletin board of being able to freely hand interested parties the cards that Marie gave me. Finally, I plan to mention their business when I teach money management at work. Lastly, now these days to some, money may be an issue but what also plays an important role is a patient’s mental and physical health! Thankfully, in those two areas I felt fulfilled and comfortable. On January 3, 2017, at night I left an emergency message that my tooth broke, I was in pain and I needed to see a dentist. I found Canyon Vista flier (never heard of the business before) and called them after hours. Blanca (front office), called me the next day on January 4, 2017 in the morning and arranged me to see a dentist within a few hours. I was desperate and relieved. I place was around 10 minutes drive from me. Upon arrival (my first visit), I met Blanca. She was kind, compassionate, and friendly, and conducted herself in a professional manner. On the waiting room, it was helpful to view on a tv screen all the treatments the business offered. Inside a special room two females provided me with service. One Female took my ex rays along with her Hispanic female assisted her. Both treated me with respect, dignity, compassionate and thanked me for serving my country in the military. Bret Standage, DMD entered the room. He was friendly, shook my hand and proceeded to explain what he needed to do to extract my tooth. Upon our conversation, he respected my veteran sensitivity (gave me a shot), respected me as a war veteran, was a good listener, compassionate, understanding, kind, treated me with dignity, explained my needed future treatments and was honest (had integrity) plus he respected my final choice (i.e. time, money, etc.); of my possible ongoing care. He also took the time and showed my broken tooth on an ex ray picture in which I appreciate. Dr Standage extracted my tooth and during the operation, he took the time to explain to me in detail what he was doing as he proceeded to remove my tooth. Afterwards, a female staff explained the financial part but I did not understand the medical terminology. Because a price was already set on the form for future treatment, I was hesitant to sign the special treatment form for I had not consented to any future treatment. Dr. Standage had accepted me having time to think of future treatment. It's important to me to make the final decision regarding my treatment! I was blessed, however, because the tooth extraction would have cost me $400+ but the price was lowered to $300. Also, the Preventative Dentistry program was offered to me for $180 in which would save me money. This was a blessing to me. Thus, I paid in cash. Overall, I had a comfortable experience with the staff. I felt like these professionals understood my dire need and I was treated with dignity, respect and they conducted themselves as professionals. Having the concern of a future eye operation I may need, I decided to continue with Canyon Vista at Apache Junction, AZ..
