Our Staff


Dr. David Barela is an Arizona native, born and raised in Tempe. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in computer engineering at Arizona State University and went on to graduate from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco, California in 2008. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Association, as well as the Central Arizona Dental Society. Today, Dr. Barela and his wife live in Tempe. His wife teaches at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa. Outside of work, Dr. Barela still maintains an interest in computers and technology, and he can never pass up a good all-you-can-eat buffet, although his wife does try to make him eat better.

Dr. Bret Standage Dentist at Copper Vista Dental Care
Dr. Bret Standage was born and raised here in Mesa, AZ. He completed his undergraduate education at Arizona State University with a BS degree in Biology. He attended dental school at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine – Arizona. During school Dr. Standage received an excellent education in all aspects of dentistry and enjoys working with his patients to help them achieve their oral health goals. He has a particular interest in implant dentistry and aesthetic dentistry and is committed to furthering his education in this area. He currently resides in Mesa with his wife and sons. He enjoys outdoor sports such as water-skiing and dirt-biking.


Kris, Hygienists at Copper Vista Dental Care
Kris graduated from Lane Community College in Oregon in 1987. She is married and has two college age sons as well as one foster son. She loves to read, hike and try new recipes out in the kitchen. Her favorite part of being a hygienist is building relationships with her patients and helping them achieve excellent oral health.



Wendy graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2015. When she isn’t taking care of our fabulous patients, she enjoys face-painting with her three children, walking her boxer, and working on their “fixer-upper” with her husband.
