What is NDHM?

Noodles don’t have measles? Never drive hungry, man?

Acronyms are certainly fun… but, it really stands for…

National Dental Hygiene Month!

That’s right! The whole month of October is dedicated to promoting oral hygiene! This includes proper brushing and flossing, and raising awareness about oral cancer.

Did you know that oral cancer is closely linked to tobacco use?

According to the Mayo Clinic, “tobacco use makes treatment less effective,…harder for your body to heal after surgery, and increases your risk of a cancer recurrence…” (Mayo Clinic.org, Mouth Cancer).

But, not everyone who is diagnosed with mouth cancer uses tobacco. It is more commonly found in adults over the age of 50, but we recommend all adults receive regular screenings. The easiest way to detect anything abnormal is to have your hygienist examine your mouth at your regular 6-month checkup!

During the month of October, CV Dental Care is offering a FREE oral cancer screening to all of our patients!

We love our patients and we want you all to live long, successful lives. If you have any concerns or questions about what to look for, please call any of our offices and we will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have!
